Music Ministry

Supporting the Music Ministry

Overview

The Aquila Music Foundation exists to support and maintain the music ministry at St. John’s Church, and incorporates the lasting legacy of the late Father William Ralston and Leonard Trosten, Esq. You may be wondering why the usage of “aquila?” In the simplest explanation, aquila is the Latin for eagle, which is the symbol of St. John the Evangelist for whom our parish is dedicated. In ancient lore, eagles are birds that fly the highest and have the sharpest vision.

The Aquila Music Foundation supports the chorister program and the Music on Madison Square concert series. Our sincere desire is for the music offered in worship and concert to soar far above the noise of the busy world around us and to lift the thin veil and give glimpses of heaven on earth.
