Our Worship
At St. John’s, our worship is grounded on the truth of the Bible as transmitted in the beauty of the Anglican tradition. It is done with reverence and dignity, according to the time-tested Biblical and traditional forms of the historic Book of Common Prayer (in the edition of 1928). Some services are very simple, others are “dressed up” with elaborate music, ornament, and ceremony.
In those with music, the music is traditionally Anglican or Episcopalian – a mix of choral and congregational singing accompanied in pipe organ. Congregational singing is based on the canticles of the Prayer Book, and hymns from the 1940 Episcopal Hymnal and other hymnals of similar character.
