Music on Madison Square presents Tallis Scholars on April 12, 2026

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Music on Madison Square, Savannah’s new concert series, will present its fourth major performance on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 5 p.m. The Tallis Scholars, led by director Peter Phillips, will perform their celebrated program “Mysteries and Miracles” at St. John’s Church on historic Madison Square.

Since its launch in 2025, Music on Madison Square has presented three concerts featuring the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra; the choirs of St. John’s Church with members of the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra; and the St. James’ Compline Choir of Mississippi. These performances have drawn enthusiastic audiences and established the series as a meaningful artistic presence in Savannah, offering “music that awakens the heart.”

The Tallis Scholars, widely regarded as the world’s leading interpreters of Renaissance polyphony, bring their luminous sound to Savannah in a rare Southeastern appearance. “Mysteries and Miracles” is a program built around musical depictions of miraculous events in the life of Jesus, as imagined by composers across centuries.

William Douglas, organist and choirmaster at St. John’s Church, said, “When we began Music on Madison Square, we hoped it would be a place where beauty lifts listeners beyond the ordinary. Welcoming artists of this caliber allows us to share something transcendent with our community, something that stirs the heart and draws it toward the divine.”
