Missed Hope Haven’s “Demystifying Dementia” Event? Presentation Now Available Online
Next Caregiver Education Program Scheduled for October 29
SAVANNAH, GA (August 20, 2026) – Hope Haven is making dementia caregiver education accessible to even more families by offering a recording of its recent “Demystifying Dementia: A Specialist’s Roadmap for the Dementia Caregiver” presentation online.
The program, presented by Jill Costello, M.A., Dementia Care Navigator with the Edel Caregiver Institute, drew a strong turnout and generated thoughtful discussion among attendees seeking practical strategies for supporting loved ones living with dementia. During the presentation, Costello shared guidance on understanding dementia, improving communication, anticipating caregiving challenges, and accessing resources that can help families navigate the caregiving journey with greater confidence.
For those who were unable to attend or would like to revisit the information, the presentation is now available to view at www.savannahrespite.com/caregivers.
“We know that caregiving responsibilities can make it difficult to attend events in person,” said Cathy Baxter, director of Hope Haven. “By making this presentation available online, we’re able to extend Jill’s valuable insights and resources to more caregivers throughout our community.”
Hope Haven also announced the next program in its caregiver education series, which will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in Cranmer Hall at St. John’s Church in downtown Savannah. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 11 a.m. Cathy Lunsford of Vital Bridge Wellness will be presenting Dementia Caregiving: Navigating Doctors, Diagnosis & Hospital Care.
In the meantime, caregivers looking for support and connection are encouraged to attend Hope Haven’s monthly dementia caregiver support group. Led by Jill Costello, the group provides a welcoming environment for family caregivers to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with others facing similar challenges. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 10:45 a.m. on the third floor of Cranmer Hall. The support group meets on the third Tuesday of each month and is free and open to all dementia caregivers.
“Our caregiver education programs and support groups are designed to provide practical information, encouragement, and connection,” Baxter said. “Caregiving can be isolating, and we want families to know they don’t have to navigate it alone. We look forward to welcoming both returning and first-time attendees this fall.”
