Ministry Outreach
Hope Haven is a faith-based respite program for those living with mild to moderate dementia or other cognitive impairment. We feel like a social club so we refer to our participants as members — every member enhances the ministry in their own unique way. For four hours a day, twice a week, our members join with trained volunteers for a day full of games, music, art, exercise, shared meals and purposeful service projects. There is no distinction made between a member and a volunteer — creating an atmosphere of service and allowing everyone to form connections and support each other through life’s challenges. The program allows the member to have a feeling of independence; it gives the caregiver time for themselves; and it provides meaning and joy to the volunteers who are able to serve as God commanded.
Hope Haven hosts a monthly support group for caregivers of a loved one living with dementia or other cognitive challenge. All are invited to connect with those in similar situations and receive emotional support, share your experiences, struggles and questions on how to best care for a loved one. Caregivers are welcome to just show up
