St. John’s Presents
arts + faith
Discussion. Fellowship. Fun.

Faith + Fiction, led by novelist and parishioner Heather Cross, focuses on creating ethical and theological engagement with literature. Literature is an excellent way to dive into a deep conversation about what it means to be human in God’s world.

Small Bites. Good Fellowship. Big Ideas. Real Conversation.
The Sunday Night Sessions is a forum for a serious yet approachable engagement of faith in our contemporary culture, as well as a platform for fellowship outside of the Sunday morning service. The events take place in St. John’s Parish House – the historic Green-Meldrim House – and are catered with delicious small bites and refreshments. Each event features a speaker or performer with time for questions and conversation.

Join us for evening concerts held in the church’s Garden Mall. St. John’s hosts a selection of national and regional touring acts and brings in some of the best of local food trucks to create an enjoyable summer evening. It’s a wonderful way of connecting the wider community to the vibrancy of the faith community of St John’s Church.

Savannah is an arts city, and historically the Christian Church has been a great patron of the arts. St. John’s art installations seek to do two things: first, to continue that tradition of faithful patronage, and secondly, to display art that conveys the gospel to those who encounter it. In 2023, St. John’s featured art from Ukrainian artist Ivana Demchuk and commissioned a series by artist Sean Marnul called “Man of Sorrows,” works of ink on paper which meditated on the Passion of our Lord. The originals were exhibited in the Green-Meldrim House with weather-proof duplicates installed in an outdoor exhibition so that all who walked through our downtown campus could encounter and contemplate these powerful visual works.
