Marking Two Anniversaries

Celebrating Two Faithful Servants of Christ and Their Ministry Here at St. John’s Church

We give thanks this week for the anniversaries of ordination to the priesthood of two beloved clergy who serve here at St. John’s Church: Fr. J. Patrick Hunt and Bishop Paul E. Lambert. As they mark these significant milestones, we honour their vocations and devoted pastoral ministry among us.

Saturday, June 6, marks the 45th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Fr. J. Patrick Hunt. Raised in Ohio and educated at Otterbein University, General Theological Seminary, Princeton, and Union Theological Seminary, Fr. Hunt served in parishes across the dioceses of Long Island, New Jersey, and Albany. Since retiring to Savannah, he has served as an assisting priest at St. John’s, offering his gifts in Sunday and weekday liturgies, as well as in pastoral care. A member of the Society of the Holy Cross (SSC), Fr. Hunt’s quiet dedication and priestly presence are a blessing to our community.

Tuesday, June 9, marks the 50th anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Bishop Paul E. Lambert, who has served as our Designated Episcopal Pastoral Oversight Bishop (DEPO) since Easter 2015. A native of Nevada and graduate of Nashotah House, Bishop Lambert served as a parish priest for 27 years before becoming Canon to the Ordinary and later Bishop Suffragan of Dallas. His wisdom and leadership, especially of Stephen Ministry, have been a steady and gracious presence here at St. John’s. We are also grateful for the support of his wife, Sally, and her dedicated service to St. John’s.

We give thanks to God for their faithful ministries and pray that their service may continue to bear fruit in Christ’s Church.
