Opportunities to Get Involved

This is a highlight of the many ways you can volunteer at St. John’s Church. If you are interested in learning more about any of the following ministries, please email info@stjohnssav.org or call the Church office at 912-232-1251.

CHOIR: Lift Your Voice; Enrich Your Worship
Now is a great time to consider joining the Choir of Adults. This choir leads Sunday services in rotation with our Choristers and the Schola choir. If you or someone you know might be interested, email Mr. Douglas at wdouglas@stjohnssav.org to learn more.

CHURCH TOUR DOCENT: Share the Beauty, History, and Holiness of St. John’s
Visitors to Savannah enjoy learning about our historic church, but we can’t keep these tours open without volunteer docents. Consider offering a few hours each month to welcome visitors and share our sacred history. Tours are on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

HOPE HAVEN: Be the Reason Someone Smiles this Week
If you’ve been thinking about getting involved in Hope Haven – St. John’s new respite care for those living with brain changes, this is your moment. Whether you’re sharing music, helping with activities, or simply spending time with our members, you will make a difference. New volunteer training is being offered this Friday, April 24. If you are interested in learning more, sign up and join us this Friday.

COFFEE HOUR: Help Build Fellowship One Cup at a Time
Would you like to connect with current and new parishioners? We offer coffee hour after principal worship on the second and fourth Sundays of the month and need volunteers to help them run smoothly.

FLOWER DELIVERY: Turn Altar Flowers into Moments of Grace
Did you know that after Sunday, the beautiful altar flowers are made into smaller arrangements and delivered to the sick, sorrowing, and shut-ins? You may choose to deliver one week a year, once a month, or any frequency that fits your schedule. We are always looking for volunteers to deliver flowers.

STEPHEN MINISTRY: Be the Steady Presence in Someone’s Storm
Consider being part of Stephen Ministry. After 50 hours of training, you will be prepared to care for someone in need. Walk alongside them, pray with them, care for them during their crisis. Training classes are determined upon interest. Contact the church office, and we will connect you with one of our Stephen Ministry leaders.

WOMEN OF ST. JOHN’S: Gather in Faith and Fellowship
All female parishioners are members of the Women of St. John’s. There are no dues and no obligations, just an opportunity to grow in faith and in fellowship with other women as we come together to support the mission of St. John’s Church. Volunteer opportunities are numerous and varied, so there are many ways to be involved.

CHANCEL SOCIETY: Supporting Worship With Faithful Hands
The Chancel Society is composed of women of the parish with a special ministry to support the worship offered at St. John’s, and whose work touches every aspect of the life of the church. Their duties are to keep clean and in good order the sanctuary and the sacristies, the linens and vestments, the silver and brass, and to have them ready before and after every service.

MEN OF ST. JOHN’S: Serve the Church & Community
Calling all men of the parish! The Men of St. John’s offers fellowship, worship, service, and fun, supporting parish life through events, worship leadership, and community outreach. Men of all ages are welcome. Contact the church office to get connected. We have a place for you!
