Fr. Dunbar’s Sunday School Class
Adult Sunday School: The Book of Common Prayer and Holy Communion
Why does the Prayer Book Holy Communion service take the shape that it does? Why do we confess our sins before coming to the Lord’s Table? What is the purpose and meaning of the Comfortable Words and the Prayer of Humble Access?
Starting Sunday, July 12, at 9:30 a.m. Fr. Dunbar’s class begins a new series in the Chapel. His Adult Sunday School class explores the theology, history, and practical use of the Book of Common Prayer’s service of Holy Communion. The class will trace how the liturgy developed from the worship of the early Church through the English Reformation, and discover how each part of the service expresses the Church’s faith and forms us as Christ’s people.
Whether you are new to the Prayer Book or have worshipped with it for decades, this class will deepen your understanding of the Church’s central act of worship and enrich your participation at the Lord’s Table.
All are warmly welcome. No prior knowledge is required.
