Children’s Sunday School (K-3^rd grade) with Margaret Wylly & Kathy Ross

Every Sunday at 10 a.m. children discover Christ through play, the Bible, traditional Creeds & Prayers, creative response, and music. Our class follows the traditional Episcopal calendar to encourage family immersion in the story of our faith. Children meet in the Children’s Chapel on the 2nd floor of Cranmer Hall.  (During the summer weeks, we will offer less structured children’s lessons.)

Although our Sunday School year begins in September, children are welcome to come at any point in the year. We do ask that participating children be registered. If you are new, registration forms are available in Cranmer Hall. You may also download, complete, and bring the registration forms with you on Sunday.

Jr. High Sunday Class (4-7^th grade) with Sarah Ross

Youth Group with Steven Vanderlip

For the Winter/Spring 2023 session, students will be studying spiritual beings: God, angels, Satan, and ourselves as embodied souls. If your child is not old enough for youth group, we have a nursery available as well. Please remember to sign-up on our website and bring $20/family.

Confirmation Class (Spring)

Typically starting in January and running through early April, St. John’s offers a confirmation class, open to all 5^th and 6^th graders. The aim of the confirmation class is to prepare our youth to receive the sacrament of confirmation and thereby take up the life Christ has prepared for them. Part of this preparation is posing questions that will encourage students to consider what exactly is the Christian faith and the life that they are preparing to undertake. Thus the big question posed at the outset of this class: What does it mean to be a Christian? In their first class, students began exploring the various things that make them happy in life, the things they think life is about: things like family, having fun, and even making money. As good as those things are, they don’t seem to satisfy completely when confronted with the words of Jesus: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) Whatever it means to be a Christian, it has something to do with this person Jesus Christ. That remains to be explored in the following weeks.
