Weddings

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Ephesians 5:31

Due to the number of requests, and the demands a wedding makes on the St. John’s staff and volunteers, weddings are reserved to parishioners (active members, active non-members) and their families.  If you are in doubt about your membership status, please consult the church office.

St. John’s is a beautiful place in which to be married, but is not a “venue”.  It is a place for Christian marriage, and Christian marriage assumes the centrality of Jesus Christ and a life of discipleship in his church throughout their life together.  The Solemnization of Matrimony is the beginning of this life together according to God’s ordinance and under his grace and blessing.

If you wish to be married at St. John’s, you must be ready to consider seriously the implications of Christian marriage for the whole of your lives.  No wedding arrangements can be made at St. John’s without the approval of the Rector, after consultation with the Wedding Committee of the Chancel Society.
